6-Mercaptopurine (6-MP) is an antimetabolite and immunosuppressant used primarily in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). It belongs to the class of purine analogs and works by interfering with DNA synthesis, thereby inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. 6-MP is often used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs. It is also used, less frequently, for the treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
Used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and sometimes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
