Abarelix is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist used to treat advanced prostate cancer. It works by blocking the effects of GnRH, which reduces the production of testosterone, a hormone that fuels the growth of prostate cancer cells. Abarelix belongs to the class of hormone therapy drugs.

Severe allergic reactions, including life-threatening anaphylaxis, have been reported with abarelix. Use with caution in patients with a history of allergies.
