Brand: Campral
Acamprosate is a medication used to help people maintain abstinence from alcohol after they have stopped drinking. It is thought to work by restoring the balance of certain neurotransmitters in the brain that are disrupted by chronic alcohol use. Acamprosate belongs to the class of drugs known as homotaurine derivatives. It does not prevent alcohol withdrawal symptoms, but rather aids in reducing the craving for alcohol and the psychological discomfort associated with abstaining from it.
