Acetaminophen is a common over-the-counter (OTC) analgesic and antipyretic drug used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever. It belongs to the class of drugs known as aniline analgesics and works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Unlike nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and aspirin, acetaminophen does not have significant anti-inflammatory effects and is less likely to cause gastrointestinal side effects.
For pain, fever, and discomfort associated with the common cold, flu, headache, backache, and other minor aches and pains.

Decreased absorption of acetaminophen
Mechanism:
Cholestyramine can bind to acetaminophen in the gut, reducing its absorption.
Outcome:
May slightly enhance the analgesic effect of acetaminophen
Mechanism:
Caffeine can have synergistic analgesic effects with acetaminophen.
