Brand: Kerlone, Betoptic, Betaxolol Hydrochloride
Betaxolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent, or beta-blocker, primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and glaucoma. It selectively blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors, reducing heart rate and the force of heart contractions, thus lowering blood pressure. In glaucoma, it decreases the production of aqueous humor, reducing intraocular pressure. Betaxolol is available in both oral and ophthalmic formulations.
