Clobazam is a 1,5-benzodiazepine used as an adjunctive treatment for seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in patients 2 years of age or older. It is also used off-label for anxiety and other seizure disorders. Clobazam enhances the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA, which inhibits nerve activity in the brain.

Clobazam may cause suicidal thoughts or actions. Clobazam may also cause slowed or difficult breathing, especially during the first 24 hours of treatment or if the dose is increased. Patients being treated with clobazam should be monitored for unusual changes in mood or behavior, suicidal thoughts or behavior, worsening seizures, and difficulty breathing.
