Clodronate is a non-nitrogenous bisphosphonate used primarily to treat diseases characterized by excessive bone resorption, such as Paget's disease of bone and osteolytic bone metastases. It acts by inhibiting osteoclast activity, thereby reducing bone breakdown. Clodronate belongs to the bisphosphonate class of drugs.
