Brand: Danocrine, Cyclomen, Danol
Danazol is a synthetic steroid derived from ethisterone, a modified form of testosterone. It acts primarily as an anti-gonadotropin, suppressing the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which in turn reduces the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. This leads to a decrease in the production of sex hormones (estrogen and testosterone) in the ovaries and testes. It's classified as a synthetic androgen and is used to treat endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease, and hereditary angioedema.
