Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the naturally occurring hormone vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone, ADH). It acts on the kidneys to reduce urine production by increasing water reabsorption. It is primarily used to treat central diabetes insipidus, nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), and certain bleeding disorders.
