Brand: Daranide, Keveyis
Dichlorphenamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor primarily used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other conditions involving elevated intraocular pressure. It works by decreasing the production of aqueous humor, the fluid that fills the front part of the eye, thereby reducing pressure inside the eye. It belongs to the class of sulfonamide diuretics but is more commonly used for its ophthalmic effects than its diuretic properties. Dichlorphenamide is also sometimes used to treat altitude sickness and periodic paralysis.
For the treatment of glaucoma, elevated intraocular pressure, altitude sickness, and periodic paralysis.

Most likely new formulation: Extended-release formulation for improved patient compliance (2026, 30% confidence)
Based on current usage trends and clinical trial data, there is a low ( <5%) likelihood of dichlorphenamide being withdrawn from the market in the next 5 years.
