Diflunisal is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild to moderate pain, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals that contribute to pain, inflammation, and fever. Diflunisal is a salicylic acid derivative and belongs to the class of non-narcotic analgesics.
