Brand: Hectorol
Doxercalciferol is a synthetic analog of 1α-hydroxyvitamin D2, a prodrug of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D2, the active form of vitamin D. It is used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Doxercalciferol works by mimicking the actions of natural vitamin D, helping to regulate calcium and phosphorus levels in the body and suppress parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion.
