Emtricitabine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) used in combination with other antiretroviral agents to treat HIV infection. It works by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which HIV needs to replicate its genetic material. Emtricitabine is a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine.
For the treatment of HIV infection in combination with other antiretroviral agents.
