Enflurane is an inhalational anesthetic used to induce and maintain general anesthesia. It belongs to the halogenated ether class and works by depressing the central nervous system, leading to loss of consciousness and pain sensation. It is no longer widely used due to the availability of newer, safer anesthetic agents.
