Eslicarbazepine acetate is an anticonvulsant medication used primarily as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults. It is the S-enantiomer of oxcarbazepine and is believed to exert its antiepileptic effects by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in the brain, thereby stabilizing neuronal membranes and reducing the spread of seizure activity. It belongs to the dibenzazepine chemical class.
