Flutamide is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen used primarily to treat prostate cancer. It works by blocking the action of androgens (male hormones like testosterone) in the body, preventing them from stimulating the growth of prostate cancer cells. Flutamide belongs to the class of anti-neoplastic medications and specifically to the antiandrogen subclass. It is often used in combination with other hormonal therapies, such as surgical or medical castration (reducing testosterone production).
Flutamide is primarily used to treat metastatic prostate cancer.
Hepatotoxicity: Cases of severe liver injury, sometimes fatal, have been reported. Liver function tests should be performed before treatment, monthly for the first 4 months, and periodically thereafter. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of liver dysfunction.

Outcome:
May decrease flutamide absorption
Mechanism:
Chelation or altered pH
