Generic: Fosinoprilat
Fosinoprilat is the active metabolite of fosinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. This action leads to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and ultimately, lower blood pressure. Fosinoprilat is primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It belongs to the class of ACE inhibitors and functions by inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
Fetal toxicity in the second and third trimesters. Use in pregnancy may cause injury and death to the developing fetus.
