Gemeprost is a synthetic prostaglandin E1 analog used primarily for inducing cervical ripening and labor induction, as well as for the termination of pregnancy. It acts by binding to prostaglandin E receptors in the cervix, causing softening and dilation. Gemeprost is also used for the treatment of postpartum hemorrhage.
