Glipizide is an oral anti-diabetic medication belonging to the sulfonylurea class. It works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. It is primarily used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when dietary changes and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood sugar.
