Brand: GlucaGen, Glucagon Emergency Kit, Baqsimi
Glucagon is a peptide hormone produced by the alpha cells of the pancreas. It raises blood glucose levels by stimulating the liver to break down glycogen into glucose (glycogenolysis) and to create glucose from other substances (gluconeogenesis). It is the counter-regulatory hormone to insulin and plays a crucial role in maintaining glucose homeostasis. Glucagon is used to treat severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in people with diabetes.
