Hydrocodone is an opioid analgesic used to treat moderate to severe pain. It's a semi-synthetic opioid derived from codeine and belongs to the opioid agonist class. Hydrocodone works by binding to opioid receptors in the central nervous system, reducing the perception of pain.
For moderate to severe pain relief.
Hydrocodone can cause respiratory depression, addiction, abuse, and misuse, which can lead to overdose and death. Hydrocodone-containing products should be reserved for use in patients for whom alternative treatment options (e.g., non-opioid analgesics) are ineffective, not tolerated, or would be otherwise inadequate to provide sufficient pain management.
