Imipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) primarily used to treat depression. It works by increasing the levels of certain neurotransmitters, serotonin and norepinephrine, in the brain. These neurotransmitters are involved in regulating mood. Imipramine is also sometimes used to treat other conditions like enuresis (bedwetting) and panic disorder.
