Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug used to treat several neglected tropical diseases, including onchocerciasis (river blindness), strongyloidiasis, and other diseases caused by soil-transmitted helminths. It is also effective against certain parasitic insects. It belongs to the avermectin class of drugs, which are macrocyclic lactones derived from the bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis.
For treatment of certain parasitic worm infections and some parasitic insects.
