Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that cause pain, fever, and inflammation. Ketoprofen is available in various forms, including oral tablets, capsules, topical gels, and intravenous solutions.
For pain, fever, inflammation, and menstrual cramps.
NSAIDs increase the risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal. This risk may increase with duration of use. Patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors for cardiovascular disease may be at greater risk. Ketoprofen is contraindicated for the treatment of perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
