Melphalan is an alkylating agent used in the treatment of multiple myeloma and ovarian cancer. It belongs to the nitrogen mustard class of chemotherapy drugs, which work by damaging DNA and preventing cancer cells from dividing and growing. Melphalan is often used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs or as part of a stem cell transplant regimen.
