Methyclothiazide is a thiazide diuretic used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention (edema). It belongs to the class of diuretics known as thiazides, which work by increasing the excretion of sodium and water from the body by the kidneys. This helps to lower blood volume and, consequently, blood pressure. It is also effective in reducing edema associated with various conditions, including heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disorders.
