Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid, a class of steroid hormones, used to treat a variety of inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions. It works by mimicking the effects of cortisol, a naturally occurring hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Methylprednisolone suppresses the immune system and reduces inflammation, making it effective in managing conditions like asthma, allergies, arthritis, and certain skin disorders.
