Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist used primarily in the management of alcohol and opioid dependence. It works by blocking the opioid receptors in the brain, reducing the pleasurable effects of these substances and thereby decreasing cravings and the likelihood of relapse. Naltrexone is available in both oral and injectable formulations.
