Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production. It is used to treat various gastrointestinal conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pantoprazole works by irreversibly binding to the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, effectively blocking the final step of acid production.
For treatment of GERD, erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
