Procainamide is an antiarrhythmic medication used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. It belongs to the class IA antiarrhythmic drugs, which work by blocking sodium channels in the heart, slowing the conduction of electrical impulses and helping to restore a normal heart rhythm. Procainamide is available in both oral and injectable forms.
