Propafenone is a Class IC antiarrhythmic drug used to treat certain types of abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. It works by slowing the conduction of electrical impulses in the heart, helping to restore a normal heart rhythm. Propafenone is available in both immediate-release and extended-release formulations.
Used to treat life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and supraventricular arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.
Propafenone can worsen existing arrhythmias or cause new, more serious ones. It should only be used in patients with life-threatening arrhythmias.
