Brand: Rilutek, Tiglutik
Riluzole is a medication used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. It is a benzothiazole derivative that is thought to work by modulating glutamate neurotransmission, potentially reducing excitotoxicity. Riluzole is neither a cure nor does it reverse the progression of ALS, but it has been shown to modestly extend survival time. It is available as a tablet and an oral suspension.
