Rimantadine is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza A infections. It belongs to a class of drugs called adamantanes and works by interfering with the replication cycle of the influenza A virus. Rimantadine is generally less well-tolerated than oseltamivir or zanamivir, which are now preferred for treatment and prophylaxis.
