Roxithromycin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It belongs to the azalide subclass of macrolides and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Roxithromycin is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
For treatment of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections.
