Sibutramine is a centrally acting serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that was used to treat obesity. It works by increasing feelings of fullness and reducing appetite. It was classified as an anorectic and belonged to the class of substituted phenethylamines. Due to cardiovascular safety concerns, it was withdrawn from the market in many countries.
