Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used to treat and prevent breast cancer in women and men. It acts as an estrogen antagonist in breast tissue, blocking estrogen's effects and inhibiting the growth of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer cells. It can also act as an estrogen agonist in other tissues, such as the uterus and bones.
For treatment and prevention of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer and reduction of contralateral breast cancer.
