Thiotepa is an alkylating agent used in chemotherapy to treat various types of cancer. It works by interfering with DNA replication, preventing cancer cells from dividing and growing. It belongs to the aziridine class of alkylating agents.
Used to treat certain types of cancer, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, bladder cancer, and lymphoma.
Thiotepa can cause myelosuppression, resulting in severe and potentially life-threatening decreases in blood cell counts. Patients should be closely monitored for signs of infection, bleeding, and anemia. Thiotepa can also cause secondary malignancies.
