Brand: Ticlid
Ticlopidine is an antiplatelet drug that belongs to the thienopyridine chemical class. It works by irreversibly inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, preventing them from clumping together and forming blood clots. Ticlopidine is primarily used to prevent stroke, myocardial infarction, and other thrombotic events in patients with a history of these conditions or who are at high risk.
Used to prevent stroke, myocardial infarction, and other thrombotic events in at-risk patients.
Ticlopidine has a black box warning for severe neutropenia and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), which can be fatal. Close monitoring of blood counts is required during treatment.
