Tolbutamide is an oral antidiabetic drug belonging to the first-generation sulfonylurea class. It works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. It is primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in individuals who cannot control their blood sugar with diet and exercise alone.
For the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
