Valdecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that was formerly used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstruation. It belongs to the coxib class, which selectively inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, reducing inflammation and pain with theoretically fewer gastrointestinal side effects compared to traditional NSAIDs. However, due to increased cardiovascular risks, it was withdrawn from the market in many countries.
Formerly used for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstruation.
