Brand: Norcuron, Vecuronium Bromide Injection, Vecuronium Bromide for Injection
Vecuronium bromide is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent used as an adjunct to general anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. It is classified as an aminosteroid and competitively binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, preventing acetylcholine from depolarizing the muscle fiber and thus inhibiting muscle contraction.
Used as a muscle relaxant during surgery and mechanical ventilation.
Outcome:
Increased neuromuscular blockade
Mechanism:
Synergistic effect at the neuromuscular junction
Outcome:
Increased or decreased neuromuscular blockade
Mechanism:
Variable effects on neuromuscular transmission
Outcome:
Additive neuromuscular blockade
