Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure, angina (chest pain), and certain types of irregular heartbeats. It works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing down the heart rate, improving blood flow and reducing the heart's workload. Verapamil belongs to the non-dihydropyridine class of calcium channel blockers and is available in both immediate-release and extended-release formulations.
